CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In view of the continuous rise in road accidents and resulting casualties in Bhopal district, Collector and District Magistrate Kaushlendra Vikram Singh has issued a prohibitory order under the powers conferred by the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023. As per the order, any two-wheeler rider not wearing a helmet will not be provided petrol or CNG at any petrol or CNG pump within Bhopal district.
Section 129 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 clearly mandates that both the rider and the pillion passenger of a two-wheeler must wear ISI-marked helmets. Riding on public roads without a helmet poses a serious risk to both the rider and the general public.
This restriction will be effective from August 1, 2025, and remain in force until September 29, 2025, across all revenue limits of Bhopal district.
It has been clarified that this restriction will not apply in cases of medical emergencies. This order shall be considered in addition to any previously existing rules or orders.
Violation of this order will invite action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, against the concerned individual, organization, or operator.
