General public will now be able to get the adult BCG Vaccine at Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Center (BMHRC). A separate center has been set up at BMHRC for this purpose. On Thursday 15 March, Dr Manisha Shrivastava, Director In-charge, BMHRC, Bhopal along with officials from the National Health Mission, inaugurated the center. Dr Shrivastava said that general public will be able to get this vaccine at the Emergency Medical Unit every day from 9 am to 2 pm.Written consent will be taken from the person before vaccination. Vaccination will be done on a voluntary basis only. She said the BMHRC is continuously working to eradicate TB. A research project is also being conducted by the institute in this regard.

Who will be vaccinated:

People aged 18 years or older suffering from diabetes
People who have had TB even once in five years.
Elderly people aged 60 years and above.
Persons who take tobacco in any form.
Persons who have come in contact with TB patients in the last three years.
Persons suffering from diabetes
Persons with body weight less than 40kg and body mass index is less than 18 .
