CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In the Dental Unit operating at the Community Health Center in Gandhinagar, over 600 people received treatment for various dental issues last month. Since the introduction of this service in February, 612 patients have been examined and treated. Of these, 25 patients received oral prophylaxis treatment. The Dental Unit also conducts oral cancer screenings, with 125 people screened, and early signs of oral cancer detected in 2 patients. Further necessary tests are being conducted for these patients.

Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bhopal, Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, stated that previously, dental treatment services were only available at the district hospital. To provide dental treatment services closer to people’s homes, these services are being expanded. As part of this initiative, Dental Units have also been started at the community health center level. Now, Dental Units are operational not only at the Gandhinagar Community Health Center but also at the Kolar and Berasia Community Health Centers.

Dentists Premalata Goyal and Bhavana Singh stationed at Gandhinagar have stated that oral cancer screening is also available at these units. All dental units operate from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and during the evening OPD from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Plans are underway to upgrade these dental units to provide free services such as tooth extractions, temporary and permanent restorations, and root canal treatments (RCT).
