CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The National Service Scheme unit of the NAAC A Plus grade-accredited Satya Sai Women’s College and Satya Sai Law College celebrated National Service Scheme Day and its first orientation programme with great enthusiasm.
The chief guest of the programme was Dr Alka Bhargav, Principal, Gyanodaya Divisional Residential School, Katara Hills, Bhopal. Dr Bhargav is a skilled trainer and social worker who has been honoured with several national and international awards. She has seven years of extensive experience as a National Service Scheme officer.
The programme began with floral tributes to the portraits of Maa Saraswati and Swami Vivekananda, the inspirational figure of the National Service Scheme. This was followed by the welcome of the guests. NSS Programme Officer Dr Manisha Tripathi delivered the welcome address.
In her address, chief guest Dr Alka Bhargav referred to a poem by Ramdhari Singh Dinkar and, through small anecdotes, underlined the importance of daughters. She said a daughter is the foundation of life. Citing three examples from nature, she explained how nature turns empty spaces into something special, and said that similarly people should never allow themselves to remain empty. She encouraged the students to learn to express themselves, to preserve and nurture everything, and to move ahead with positive thinking.
College Director Dr Pratibha Singh, in her address, said students can sharpen their personalities by joining NSS. College Principal Dr Renu Mishra and Law College Principal Dr Anju Bajpai were present on the occasion.
In the cultural programme organised on the occasion, volunteers Anushka, Pratibha, Anukriti and Khushi presented a dance on Ganesh Stuti. Poorva Sharma, Nancy Sharma and Tanushree performed a South Indian dance, while Poorva Sharma presented a solo Rajasthani dance, showcasing impressive talent.
A message-oriented street play on de-addiction, based on the theme “Choose life, not addiction”, was presented by volunteers Manvi Jadon, Muskan Ashware, Meena Baghel, Riya Yadav, Smriti Sharma and Vaishali Choudhary.
Core group volunteers Krishna Vishwakarma, Manvi Jadon, Muskan Ashware, Anushka Gupta and Kashish Karad extended full cooperation in making the programme successful. The programme was successfully conducted by volunteers Akanksha and Anshi.
