CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A special programme was organised by the National Service Scheme unit of Sant Hirdaram Girls College, Bhopal, to mark the 58th Foundation Day of the National Service Scheme.
The objective of the programme was to strengthen among the volunteers the spirit of service, leadership ability, social awareness and dedication to nation building.
The chief guest, Jyoti Ratre, an Everest mountaineer, shared her inspiring life experiences and said it is very important for young people, especially daughters, to set their goals and make continuous efforts to achieve them. She encouraged the volunteers to remain socially active, discharge their responsibilities with commitment and face challenges with courage.
Special guest Neha Singh, who represented the National Service Scheme, Barkatullah University, Madhya Pradesh, at the Republic Day Parade 2020, shared her inspiring journey from being a volunteer to receiving the NSS State Award. She urged the students to remain continuously associated with NSS, serve society selflessly and play an active role in nation building.
On the occasion, college principal Dalima Parwani extended greetings on the 58th Foundation Day of the National Service Scheme and appreciated the programme. She said NSS is an effective platform for the development of students’ personalities, leadership abilities and social responsibility. She congratulated and extended best wishes to all the guests, programme officers and volunteers.
As part of the Seva Sankalp campaign organised on Foundation Day, NSS volunteers participated in a cleanliness fortnight programme and carried out shramdaan in the area behind the auditorium on the college campus. They conducted a cleanliness drive, cleaned the premises and conveyed the message of maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The volunteers also took a pledge to make cleanliness an integral part of life and to spread public awareness in society.
The programme organised on the 58th Foundation Day of the National Service Scheme proved to be an important and inspiring initiative towards strengthening the values of service, dedication, discipline and social consciousness.
