CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has questioned the appointment of Avinash Vajpayee as the Registrar of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication. In a letter to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, NSUI demanded an investigation and suspension.
NSUI State Co-Secretary Aman Pathan alleged in the letter that the appointment violated Rule 6 of the Madhya Pradesh Gazette Order No. 134. He urged a high-level investigation against the registrar and called for his suspension. Pathan emphasized that if a senior official violates this rule, strict action should be taken to prevent future irregularities.
The Madhya Pradesh government had introduced a rule in 2000 stating that any candidate with more than two living children, with one born after the rule’s enactment, would be ineligible for any service or position.
NSUI University In-charge Tanay Sharma stated that this rule was implemented by the state government, and its violation by a senior academic officer raises questions about governance credibility. He demanded that the registrar should immediately resign on moral grounds. Sharma further added that if the appointment is found to be illegal, the salary paid to the registrar should be recovered. He stressed the need for transparency in university administration and warned that if proper action is not taken, NSUI will be compelled to protest.
