CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The nursing mega-scam in Madhya Pradesh is taking new twists one after another. With the involvement of CBI officers now revealed, the entire investigation is under scrutiny. Amidst this, whistleblower Ravi Parmar has also implicated the current Medical Education Minister and Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla in the nursing scam.
NSUI leader Ravi Parmar, during a discussion with journalists about the nursing college scam, claimed that the scam is happening under the protection of ministers and officials in the state. Ravi alleged that in 2021, eight colleges, whose recognition and affiliation were revoked due to the absence of principals and faculty, were once again affiliated by Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur. He expressed suspicion that Minister Rajendra Shukla is somehow involved.
Parmar revealed that in August 2023, recognition of 19 nursing colleges was revoked due to fake faculty involvement. However, when the executive council meeting of Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur, was held in March 2024, it was explicitly mentioned that the recognition of eight nursing colleges had already been revoked by the Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council (MPNRC) for the 2022-23 session. Despite this, these eight colleges were granted affiliation by the university, citing recognition by the MPNRC. Additionally, Sardar Patel College of Nursing, Ratlam, was granted affiliation for 60 seats, but 30 more seats were added against the rules.
According to Parmar, it was also informed that the recognition from M.P. Paramedical for the 2022-23 session was still pending, meaning a college that had no principal and faculty for three years was granted affiliation based on just an affidavit. Parmar mentioned that these are just a few examples, as many fake nursing and paramedical colleges have been affiliated by the university.
Parmar asserted that all these facts clearly show that the government is complicit with the guilty parties in the nursing college scam, as it is trying to protect the culpable officials. He stated that the government shows no concern for the lakhs of students in Madhya Pradesh. Despite the investigation, fake recognition continues to be granted to nursing colleges. Parmar announced that he will soon expose the names of the corrupt leaders and officials involved in this case.
