CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Bhopal Division launched an innovative initiative towards environmental conservation by establishing a ‘Micro Forest’ using the Miyawaki method at the Divisional Railway Hospital premises in Nishatpura. On this occasion, Divisional Railway Manager Devashish Tripathi, President of the Women’s Welfare Organization Gunjan Tripathi, and other senior officials were present. Together, they planted 400 saplings, including medicinal and eco-friendly species such as Neem, Sweet Neem, Jamun, Amla, Mango, Fig, Amaltas, and Raatrani.
The Miyawaki method, developed by Japanese botanist Prof. Akira Miyawaki, is known for creating dense and fast-growing forests in small spaces. This technique results in trees growing 10 times faster and yields 30 times more green cover.
In continuation of this initiative, plantation drives were also conducted at other locations of the Bhopal Division, such as Loco Shed Itarsi, railway depots, railway colonies, and level crossings. Additionally, under the ‘Mission LiFE’ campaign, awareness posters and banners were displayed at various stations.
This initiative is not merely symbolic but is being viewed as a long-term solution for environmental restoration and is expected to contribute significantly to enhancing urban greenery.
