CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A one-day national seminar was successfully organized at the College of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Mahu, under the joint aegis of Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University and the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairy, Government of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal. The seminar focused on the theme: “Opportunities and Challenges for Veterinarians in Safeguarding Global Health from a One Health Perspective.”

The seminar, held under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Mandeep Sharma, began with Saraswati Vandana by the dignitaries and the college principal. Following the felicitation of the guests, Dr. Neetu Rajput, the organizing secretary, presented the seminar’s outline.

In his welcome address, College Principal Dr. Brahm Prakash Shukla highlighted the importance of viewing humans, animals, and the environment as a single health entity. He emphasized that neglecting this perspective has led to severe diseases like the COVID-19 pandemic. He further stated that under the One Health concept, veterinarians must work on challenges such as antimicrobial resistance, zoonotic diseases, and foodborne illnesses from animal products.

The chief guest, Dr. S.C. Dubey, underscored the significance of One Health by referencing the ideals of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah. Special guest and eminent speaker Dr. Nishant Khare, a plastic surgeon from Indore, explained that every unit in the world—human health, environmental health, animal health, and agricultural health—is interdependent. He highlighted that implementing the One Health approach could save enough resources to feed the entire global population for a year.

Dr. Rajesh Chahota and Dr. Harshad Murugkar also shared their insights and experiences on the seminar’s theme with veterinarians and other participants. During the event, the media in-charge released the seminar souvenir.

The seminar saw participation from 100 veterinarians from the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairy, Madhya Pradesh, along with approximately 50 faculty members and over 200 students from the college. All dignitaries were presented mementos by the college principal. The program was conducted by Dr. Joycy Jogi, with vote of thanks delivered by Dr. P.D.S. Raghuvanshi and Dr. Ashok Patil.
