CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar has criticised Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav over his PDA Rath Yatra to Rae Bareli, alleging that the visit was aimed at promoting “hooliganism and crime”.
Rajbhar referred to an alleged confrontation involving the Samajwadi Party’s Rae Bareli district president and a Circle Officer. He claimed that the SP leader had behaved improperly with the police officer and used objectionable language. Rajbhar alleged that Akhilesh Yadav was travelling to Rae Bareli in support of such behaviour. These remarks are Rajbhar’s political allegations and have not been independently established.
Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday began his PDA Rath Yatra from Lucknow towards Rae Bareli as part of the Samajwadi Party’s organisational campaign ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election. The first phase includes a visit to SP MLA Rahul Lodhi’s residence in Harchandpur, followed by the programme in Rae Bareli.
The Samajwadi Party has described the campaign as an effort to connect directly with people, interact with party workers and strengthen the organisation. The party has also linked the PDA campaign to its outreach among backward classes, Dalits and minorities.
Rajbhar’s remarks come amid increased political activity in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly election, with the PDA campaign, law and order and political representation featuring prominently in statements by different parties.
