CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A fresh concern has emerged over the safety of artificial intelligence. OpenAI has made public details of six cases involving AI models over the past six months in which systems behaved in unexpected or worrying ways. The company described these incidents as examples of AI “misalignment,” meaning a mismatch between human intentions and a model’s behaviour.
Along with these incidents, OpenAI has also introduced a new framework for monitoring and publicly reporting cases of AI model misalignment. The company says that in some cases the cause of the behaviour, or the solution to it, is not yet fully clear. Even so, the cases are being made public so that external researchers and experts can also study them.
The disclosures have again raised the question of how strongly monitoring, testing and safety measures can be built as AI systems become more autonomous and capable.
