CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Kanpur. The controversy over the ‘Nagada Night’ event in Kanpur involving social media influencer and actress Anjali Arora has now reached the stage of a legal notice. The organisers have sent a notice to Anjali Arora and her manager Preeti Dubey, demanding a total of ₹1.20 crore in damages and a public apology within 15 days. The organisers allege that Anjali did not perform for the agreed duration and left the programme midway, affecting the event and causing them financial loss.
According to media reports, an agreement had been made for a 45-minute performance at the event held on October 15 at Lajpat Bhavan in Kanpur. The organisers claim that she performed for only about 12 minutes and then left the stage. After this development, a dispute emerged over the event arrangements and payment. In the legal notice sent on behalf of the organisers, ₹1 crore has been sought for alleged defamation and ₹20 lakh for compensation for financial loss. The organisers say that responsibility had also been fixed for honouring guests and sponsors at the event, but the alleged decision to leave the programme incomplete affected the image of the event.
During the dispute, Anjali Arora had also raised questions over the event arrangements and security-related issues. She had presented her side, citing disorder at the venue. Claims from both sides have therefore come forward in the matter. The organisers’ allegations have not been independently verified, and the sending of a legal notice does not by itself prove their demands.
The organisers have sought a public apology and damages through the notice. Reports have also mentioned a complaint being given to the police in connection with the matter. The next developments will now depend on the response from Anjali Arora and her team, and on any action by the authorities concerned.
