CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : Orientation Workshop on PCPNDT Act Organized under “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar” Campaign
As part of the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar” campaign, an orientation workshop on the provisions of the PCPNDT Act was held at MPT Hotel Lake View, Bhopal. The workshop was attended by doctors from all sonography centers across the district. The event, organized by the Bhopal District Health Department, was addressed by the Mayor of Bhopal, Malti Rai, as the chief guest.
Other dignitaries present included Councilor Brajla Sachan, Chief Medical and Health Officer Bhopal Manish Sharma, District Prosecution Officer Rajendra Upadhyay, Senior Physician Anoop Hazela, and Shailesh Lunawat. Doctors who had made notable contributions to the compliance of the Act were felicitated on the occasion.
Addressing the workshop, Mayor Malti Rai emphasized that along with their medical duties, doctors have a social responsibility to raise awareness against sex-selective practices. She stated, “Medical service is a prestigious profession, and doctors’ guidance has a direct impact on society. Promoting the message of equality between sons and daughters is a moral duty of doctors. Both boys and girls should receive equal care, nutrition, and education.”
Chief Medical and Health Officer Manish Sharma explained the provisions of the PCPNDT Act and legal aspects of violations. Sonography center operators were guided in detail on record-keeping, documentation, and reporting procedures to ensure compliance with the law.
