The National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR), Bhopal, has taken a significant step toward skill development in the semiconductor industry. The institute has inaugurated a specialized OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) Skill Center. The objective of this center is to provide industry-oriented training and develop practical skills such as assembly, testing, marking, and packaging, preparing students as skilled human resources for the semiconductor sector.
Under this new initiative, the institute has also launched Advanced Semiconductor courses and MSc programs. These courses will offer students hands-on training and project-based learning. The curriculum covers comprehensive knowledge from semiconductor design to its applications, enhancing students’ technical proficiency and industry readiness.
The institute has submitted a proposal to the Madhya Pradesh government to establish a Research and Innovation Park for the OSAT center. The proposed park will develop assembly and packaging facilities for discrete power semiconductor devices and application-specific multi-chip modules.
C. C. Tripathi, Director of the institute, stated that the Madhya Pradesh government’s steps to promote the semiconductor and electronics industry are commendable. The state’s proactive policies are expected to accelerate growth in this sector. This initiative aligns with the objectives of the Indian Semiconductor Mission, which aims to make India a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing and design.
In the future, the center will provide high-quality training to ITI, diploma, polytechnic, BTech, MTech, and science students. A total budget of ₹27.50 crore has been proposed for the Research and Innovation Park, with ₹13.50 crore requested from the Higher Education Department.
P. K. Purohit, Dean of the institute, explained that the center will equip students and teachers with the latest technologies, industry-relevant skills, research and innovation exposure, and career guidance, providing a strong foundation for the country’s technical future.
