The grand inaugural ceremony of the National Media Conference, organised by the Media and PR Wing of the Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation, a sister institution of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, was held today at the Divine Shakti Anubhuti Hall in Mansarovar, Abu Road, on the theme “Powerful Media for Building a Better World.”
The programme was attended mainly by Man Singh Parmar, former vice-chancellor of Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Mass Communication; Sarfaraz Saifi, CEO of Bharat News Network, New Delhi; Rana Yashwant, editor-in-chief of News India TV; Sanjay Dwivedi, head of the Department of Mass Communication at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal; Rajyogi BK Karuna Bhai, national chairperson of the Media and PR Wing; BK Sarla Behan, national vice-chairperson; BK Nikunj Bhai, national coordinator; BK Sushma Didi, Brahma Kumaris sub-zone in-charge from Jaipur; and BK Chandrakala Behan, zonal coordinator of the Media Wing.
In his presidential address, Rajyogi BK Karuna said all of us should work together so that India becomes a world guru.
Former vice-chancellor Man Singh Parmar said that when people speak of a better world, they must look at the present condition of the world. He said the world needs peace, unity and trust – a world that can connect human beings with one another. He strongly said that India’s Constitution also speaks of universal brotherhood and that India’s culture has been very ancient. He added that, on the lines of “Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah,” people must place their core values before everyone.
Renowned anchor Sarfaraz Saifi said it was his good fortune to visit the Brahma Kumaris institution for the second time. “I have learned a lot from here. I can say with confidence that, for the first time in two decades, more than 1,500 journalists have sat under one roof at one platform for a programme. This is a matter of great pride for us,” he said. He added that today people often accept viral posts as true but do not verify them. Saifi said people will become “branded” from within when they follow the principles of all religions. He said there is a great need for everyone to be positive in the present times, and the Brahma Kumaris are doing good work in this direction.
Threat of cyber war:
In his address, Rana Yashwant, giving examples related to AI, said artificial intelligence is today playing the role of an assistant for people in many areas, but through AI there is a global race to create a power that will be beyond human control. He said many countries are currently moving towards cyber warfare, while no one is thinking about the basic needs of human beings. “In this era of science and technology, if we do not realise that we are all standing at a very dangerous turning point, then we are mistaken,” he said. He added that India needs to be more alert so that it does not prove to be weaker than other countries in any field.
On the occasion, Sanjay Dwivedi said this is a land of spirituality, and if God has chosen this place, there must certainly be something special here. He said journalism today needs courage and spirituality. The foundation of Indian journalism, he said, is mission-oriented journalism. Today, 25 wings of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya are functioning, are active 24 hours a day, and are performing their responsibility well for higher journalism. He said that where there is no dialogue, disputes will arise, but every problem can be resolved through dialogue. He said there is a need to make people humane, and that there is a process of becoming a human being from merely being a person. He said the first element of media is trust, and trust is built when one stands with the truth. Standing with truth in daily life is not easy, he added, and said people will have to walk on the path of dharma.
BK Nikunj Bhai also shared positive thoughts at the programme.
