CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Rampur. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi targeted the Samajwadi Party and its president Akhilesh Yadav during a public meeting in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. He appealed to the Muslim community to recognise its political strength and develop its own leadership. Asked about SP leader Azam Khan, Owaisi said he prayed for him.

“Abdul will no longer spread mats, he will become a leader,” Owaisi said, adding that the Muslim community should not remain limited to supporting political parties. He said Abdul would become an MLA and MP himself instead of laying out mats. His remarks are being viewed in the context of Muslim political representation and leadership in Uttar Pradesh.

Questioning the politics of the Samajwadi Party, Owaisi criticised Akhilesh Yadav and his leadership. He alleged that traditional political parties seek the support of Muslim votes but do not provide adequate opportunities for leadership and representation to people from the community. In his speech, he emphasised the need for independent political leadership.

When asked about Azam Khan, Owaisi said he prayed to Allah that all his troubles and difficulties end and that his path becomes easier. Through the statement, he expressed goodwill towards Azam Khan.

Ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Owaisi’s political activity has increased. The AIMIM chief has been repeatedly raising questions about the politics of the SP and other parties. His statements are likely to intensify the debate in the state over Muslim political representation, alliances and leadership. However, the electoral impact of these remarks will depend on voter attitudes and forthcoming political developments.
