CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Pakistan has signed an agreement with the American drone technology company Powerus for unmanned aerial systems. The company has confirmed signing a memorandum of understanding with the Pakistan Army and also receiving an initial order. However, the specific drone systems to be used under the agreement and the value of the order have not been disclosed.
Powerus is set to merge soon with Nasdaq-listed Aureus Greenway Holdings. According to US regulatory filings, President Donald Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, hold investments in Aureus through American Ventures. The company and the Trump family have said the two brothers have no role in the company’s operations or its defence agreements.
The matter also has an India connection. In June 2026, Powerus signed an agreement with Indian company Paras Defence and Space Technologies for the manufacture and commercialisation in India of the ‘Guardian-1’ counter-drone system. Guardian-1 has been developed to counter aerial threats such as attacking drones and drone swarms. After the agreement with Pakistan, discussion has increased over India’s security arrangements and regional drone capability. However, based on available information, it would not be appropriate at this stage to assume that the system Pakistan will receive and the Guardian-1 system to be manufactured in India are the same.
