Joseph Vijay being projected as a future prime ministerial candidate. Amid this, AIADMK chief and former chief minister E. Palaniswami took a dig at Vijay, saying he could even become the President of the United States.
When Palaniswami was asked about TVK supporters projecting Vijay as a future prime minister, he said the chief minister could also become the President of America and that there was nothing wrong with it. He described it as the wish of the person concerned.
Target over running government through social media
Palaniswami also questioned the Vijay government’s social media and publicity campaigns. He alleged that the government was focusing more on working through reels and social media. He said governance cannot be run only on the basis of social media activity.
The AIADMK chief also targeted Vijay over his tours and government expenditure. Citing the tenure of former chief minister J. Jayalalithaa, he said projects were inaugurated through video conferencing at that time to reduce expenditure.
Campaign to project Vijay as PM candidate
Discussion has intensified in recent days among leaders and supporters associated with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) about taking Vijay forward in national politics. In some posters and social media campaigns, he has been projected as a possible face for the post of prime minister. The issue has triggered a new debate in Tamil Nadu politics.
Palaniswami also raised questions over Vijay’s financial management of the state and alleged that the government was announcing schemes without adequate financial provision. He warned that if the state continued to borrow in this manner, Tamil Nadu’s debt could rise. These claims are Palaniswami’s political allegations.
With Vijay’s growing political role in Tamil Nadu politics, the exchange of remarks between the AIADMK and TVK is likely to intensify further in the coming days.
