CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A special lecture on the topic “Panchkoshi Education for Teachers” was organized at the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Bhopal. The keynote speaker was Avneesh Bhatnagar, All India Vice President of Vidya Bharati.
In his address, Mr. Bhatnagar elaborated on the Panchkoshi (five sheaths) concept described in Indian educational philosophy. He explained how a teacher can empower students at five levels — physical, vital, mental, intellectual, and spiritual.
Mr. Bhatnagar emphasized that education is not merely the transmission of information, but a process of holistic personality development. He explained the five layers of Panchkoshi education:
Annamaya Kosha – Physical health and discipline
Pranamaya Kosha – Development of energy and life force
Manomaya Kosha – Emotional balance and purity of thoughts
Vijnanamaya Kosha – Wisdom, intellect, and decision-making ability
Anandamaya Kosha – Morality, spirituality, inner satisfaction, and peace
He highlighted that teachers must themselves be aware and awakened on all five levels in order to serve as role models for students. He stressed the urgent need for Panchkoshi-based training in today’s education system so that teaching becomes life-centric rather than knowledge-centric.
He added, “While the world globalizes trade, India globalizes the philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ — the world is one family.”
The Director of the institute expressed gratitude to Mr. Bhatnagar and announced that the institute would work towards integrating the Panchkoshi education approach into future teacher training programs.
Program Coordinator P. K. Purohit remarked that the lecture was not only an academic dialogue but also a means of self-development and inner awakening for teachers. He noted that this approach is highly relevant in today’s educational landscape.
The event was attended by faculty members of the institute and trainee participants from various states. The session was conducted by Babli Chaturvedi.
