CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Panipat Workshop Boosts Sustainable Textiles, Speeds Up European Market Readiness
Panipat. An important workshop was organised to help Panipat’s textile industry become sustainable, environment-friendly and aligned with the requirements of the global market. Held under the European Union-supported ‘Green Threads’ programme, the initiative informed textile entrepreneurs and exporters about sustainable production, green finance and upcoming international regulations.
The workshop also emphasised developing a shared sustainable identity for Panipat’s textile recycling cluster. The aim is to increase Panipat’s credibility in the field of recycled textiles and strengthen its recognition among global buyers. According to the study, a shared identity based on verifiable environmental data could help Panipat access high-value export markets.
At the programme, small and medium enterprises were briefed on European Union environmental regulations, systems for recording product information, extended producer responsibility and rules related to waste transportation. The need for transparency in the textile waste supply system and for making product information available was also discussed. Under the initiative, sustainable production guidelines were also issued for the Panipat textile recycling cluster. In addition, a pilot system for a digital product passport was launched to record information on textile waste and trace its source. Its purpose is to help exporters prepare environmental data and get ready for the changing requirements of the international market.
As part of efforts to develop Panipat as one of India’s major textile recycling centres, continuous work is being carried out on sustainable production, green finance, recycling and transparent supply systems. These initiatives are expected to help local industries prepare in line with the environmental requirements of the European market and strengthen their position in global competition.
