CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Parikshit Madan’s journey is an inspiring story of sustained effort despite repeated setbacks in civil service examination preparation. After failing to clear the UPSC Civil Services Examination six times, he secured the fourth rank in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination and has now also succeeded in the Haryana Civil Service (HCS) examination. In the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) examination, he scored 364 marks and secured the 27th rank.
From the corporate sector to civil service, Parikshit, a resident of Badshahpur village in Haryana’s Gurugram district, studied BBA at The NorthCap University. Initially, he was inclined towards the corporate sector, but during an internship he realised that civil service could offer an opportunity to bring direct change in people’s lives. He then began preparing for the civil services in 2017. Because of his interest in history, he chose it as his optional subject. Later, he completed an MA in history and also qualified UGC NET-JRF.
Parikshit did not give up despite six failures. He appeared for the UPSC examination six times. On two occasions, he reached the mains examination, but could not find a place in the final selection list. During this period, he also appeared in examinations conducted by other state public service commissions. Learning from every attempt, he continued to improve his preparation and strategy. The result was the fourth rank in BPSC, after which he became an SDM in Bihar.
Now, after securing the 27th rank in HPSC, Parikshit has the option of continuing in administrative service in Bihar or returning to his home state Haryana. According to the report, he has not yet taken a final decision on this. His journey sends a message to young people preparing for competitive examinations that it is important to learn from failures, practise regularly and keep improving one’s strategy.
