CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In the summer theatre workshop, participants are learning painting along with acting, dance, and music. Painting serves as a powerful medium to view the world through an artist’s perspective and to express emotions through creativity. These days, a special workshop is being आयोजित at Pratibhalaya Arts Academy, where experts from various fields are providing training to participants.
In this series, Dr. Rekha Bhatnagar, a disciple of Dr. Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar and a senior artist, taught participants how to draw faces and depict expressions on canvas. Dr. Rekha has established a unique identity through her distinctive painting technique, “Shabdankan se Rekhankan” (from words to lines), and her artworks have been presented to former President Smt. Pratibha Patil and several other distinguished personalities. In the coming days, participants will also learn sketching techniques.
The Academy’s Director, Dr. Manju Mani Hatwalne, informed that a fifteen-day theatre workshop has been organized at the academy starting from May 1. During this workshop, participants will be trained in acting, voice and speech, theatre games, scene work, improvisation, music, painting, and property (prop) making.

Over the fifteen days, participants will undergo basic theatre exercises such as alertness, observation, and voice projection, and will learn how to create scenes using props. They will also get the opportunity to learn from experts of other art forms.
On the first day, participants were divided into four groups and were taught how to create scenes using a single prop, showcasing their creativity.
The Vice President of the institution, Vishal Hatwalne, stated that the academy primarily provides formal training in the classical dance form Bharatanatyam following the guru-shishya tradition. Additionally, various workshops are organized from time to time. The objective is not only to cultivate interest in art among the younger generation but also to ensure their holistic development.
He added that the workshop will help reduce the hesitation that both children and adults often feel in expressing themselves, leading to meaningful outcomes.
In the coming days, more scene work sessions will be conducted. The workshop will conclude on May 15, and certificates will be awarded to all participants.
