CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : The horrors of the Partition of India are a dark chapter in the country’s freedom struggle that we citizens can never forget. This was not a mistake of moments but of centuries, the pain and anguish of which still lingers in our hearts and is recalled involuntarily. These sentiments were expressed by the guests during the program organized on the occasion of the two-day Independence Festival, “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.”
At the beginning of the program, former Director General of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication and Professor at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism, Sanjay Dwivedi, along with former Director of the Department of Public Relations, Lajpat Ahuja, shared their views prominently. Mr. Ahuja said that he personally understood the pain of Partition because his own family suffered through it.

Addressing the seminar, Professor Sanjay Dwivedi said that it is essential to have a complete understanding of our history. Only then can we comprehend the paths that led us to the present and determine where we need to go in the future. Professor Dwivedi noted that even during the struggle for independence, disagreements existed among us, which the British exploited. He emphasized that we must recognize our shortcomings and fulfill our responsibilities. He stated that if we had been more vigilant, the Partition might have been avoided. Despite the Partition, the country witnessed bloodshed in the form of communal riots.
Speaking at the seminar, former Director of Public Relations Lajpat Ahuja said that the Narendra Modi government, by declaring Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, has given victims of this tragedy the opportunity to share their pain with others. The events of the Partition can serve as lessons for future generations. Ahuja highlighted that after the Partition, even people from our own country were labeled as refugees. He also mentioned the atrocities committed during the Partition, especially the sexual violence against women and young girls, and noted that many victims of this tragedy never received justice.

Addressing the seminar, Prashant Pathrabe, Additional Director General of the Press Information Bureau and Central Information Bureau, highlighted the significance of the freedom struggle and Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, noting that the Central Communications Bureau is organizing various programs across several districts of Madhya Pradesh on this occasion.
The program was also addressed by Dr. Ajay Agrawal, Principal of Government Maharani Laxmibai Girls College; Muneesh Gautam, Director of the Press Information Bureau; and Sharik Noor, Deputy Director of the Central Information and Communications Bureau. The event was conducted by Assistant Director Parag Mandale. On the occasion, Assistant Directors Karishma Pant, Ajay Upadhyay, Samir Verma, several dignitaries, and a large number of students were also present.
