CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a significant reforestation initiative focused on the Aravalli mountain range, one of India’s oldest and ecologically critical landscapes. The initiative aims to restore degraded forest areas, improve biodiversity, and combat desertification in the region, which spans parts of Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Gujarat.

PM Modi emphasized the urgent need for sustainable environmental practices and reaffirmed India’s commitment to climate action and land restoration. The Aravalli reforestation project will involve planting native tree species, creating water harvesting systems, and engaging local communities in conservation efforts. Environmental experts have welcomed the move, calling it a timely step toward reversing ecological damage and promoting green infrastructure.

The launch was part of a broader national campaign aligned with India’s goals under the United Nations’ Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. The Prime Minister also urged citizens to take part in local green initiatives and embrace lifestyle changes that support environmental sustainability. The event sends a strong message of prioritizing nature-based solutions and protecting fragile ecosystems, especially at a time when global environmental challenges are intensifying.
