CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A few days after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, relief has emerged in an almost 15-year-old land dispute involving his old schoolmate Asgar Ali Vora. Vora, an 81-year-old resident of Mira Road, had alleged that his land measuring about 2,810 square metres in the Navghar area of Bhayandar East had been encroached upon. Vora met Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi on September 8 and placed the matter before him. The two had studied together at BN School in Vadnagar, Gujarat. According to Vora, he had purchased the land in 1989 and had been approaching various government departments over the dispute since 2011.
After the matter was raised before the Prime Minister, a meeting of the concerned parties and officials was held at the Maharashtra Mantralaya. According to a report, BJP MLA Narendra Mehta has said he will give up possession of the disputed land and return the construction permission related to the plot. He also informed that a complaint earlier filed against Vora would be withdrawn. A settlement between the two sides has been reported. However, the relevant administrative process is continuing on all aspects of the legal dispute related to land ownership and previous possession.
