CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not address the General Debate at the upcoming 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session, scheduled from September 23 to 29, 2025. According to a revised provisional list of speakers, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is slated to represent India and deliver the national address on September 27. This marks a shift from the earlier plan where PM Modi was scheduled to speak on September 26.
The UNGA session, opening on September 9, carries the theme “Better Together: 80 Years and More for Peace, Development, and Human Rights.” The high-level debate will feature leaders from various nations, including Israel, China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, who are scheduled to speak on September 26. The change in India’s representation comes amid ongoing global challenges, including the Israel-Hamas conflict and the Ukraine crisis.
The final list of speakers remains provisional and subject to change as the session approaches. Adjustments in schedules and speakers are common in the lead-up to the high-level week, and updates will continue to be reflected accordingly.
