CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: PM USHA slows amid RUSA issues, Rs 270 crore projects incomplete
The impact of a budget shortage is becoming visible in the implementation of schemes linked to higher education in Chhattisgarh. Work has been affected over the operation of projects and financial arrangements between the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) and the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM USHA). Despite various projects sanctioned at a cost of about Rs 270 crore, construction of hostels and new buildings remains incomplete in several colleges.
According to information, several construction works were approved under PM USHA to expand basic facilities in colleges. These included hostels, academic buildings and the development of other essential facilities. However, construction has stopped at several places because the budget has been exhausted. This is affecting plans to complete the projects within the stipulated time.
With construction work remaining incomplete, students studying in colleges are not getting the benefit of the proposed facilities. In particular, because of the shortage of hostels, students coming from remote areas may face difficulties. Despite approval of projects worth Rs 270 crore, the incomplete construction work raises questions over financial management and effective implementation of the schemes. Additional budget and the resumption of construction work are now needed to complete these projects. The position on further financial arrangements and timelines from the department concerned is yet to be clarified.
