CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A fresh case of large-scale protest has emerged from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. At a rally held in Mandhol village, protesters demanded the removal of fencing along the Line of Control and the reopening of old routes connected to India. According to the organisers, around 25,000 people took part in the rally.
The protest was led by Sardar Aman Khan, a leader of the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee. He sought public support for ending the Line of Control, removing the fencing there and reopening the old Poonch-Mendhar routes. Protesters also raised slogans in support of these demands.
The protest took place amid an agitation that has been continuing in the region for the past several months. Protesters have been expressing dissatisfaction with the policies of the local administration and the Pakistan government. Issues related to the supply of food items and other essential goods have also been raised during the movement. However, several allegations related to these matters are based on claims made by the protesters. At the rally, Sardar Aman Khan also spoke of staging a sit-in near the fencing along the Line of Control.
