CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : A special Drug De-addiction Awareness Program was organized at Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, led by the Madhya Pradesh Police Department. The aim of the program was to educate youth, students, and university staff about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to raise awareness in society about living a drug-free life.

On this occasion, Sub-Inspector Kamalendra Chaubey from Chuna Bhatti Police Station and his team administered an anti-drug oath to the attendees and presented a short documentary film highlighting various forms of drug use and their negative consequences. He informed the audience that this program is part of a special state-wide campaign running until 30 July 2025, initiated by the state government. He stated, “Addiction not only harms a person’s health but also damages their social reputation and financial stability.”

Professor of Practice B.B. Sharma from the university addressed the gathering and discussed in detail the scientific and medical consequences of using substances like cigarettes, tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, and marijuana. He emphasized that chemicals like nicotine severely affect the nervous system.

Presiding over the event, Registrar Sushil Manderia referred to mobile phone addiction as a modern form of substance abuse and urged people to avoid it. He added, “We must begin at the family level to build a drug-free society.”

The program was conducted and the vote of thanks was delivered by Senior Advisor of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Nidhi Rawal Gautam. The event saw the active participation of university officials, staff, and a large number of students.
