As part of the drive, vehicles were checked after checkpoints were set up at 36 locations across the city’s three zones. The campaign continued until 10 pm. Police also questioned suspicious persons during the drive.
During the checking campaign, vehicles were stopped on major roads and in different areas, and their documents and details related to movement were examined. Police personnel checked two-wheelers and four-wheelers and made necessary inquiries from drivers. When suspicious activities were noticed, information was gathered from the persons concerned.
Maintaining security and law and order in the city ahead of a major event such as Rajyotsav is a priority for the police. With this objective, checking drives were conducted simultaneously in different areas so that any suspicious activity could be monitored in time. The police action increased surveillance on the city’s major routes. Through checking and questioning during the campaign, efforts were made to strengthen the security arrangements.
