He has been admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital since February 14 due to breathing difficulties and was placed on oxygen support. For a few days, he was also on a ventilator. People around the world have been praying for his speedy recovery.
According to Vatican News, the Holy See Press Office released a brief update on the Pope’s health on Friday evening. The statement mentioned, “He is no longer using nighttime ventilatory support with a mask. His condition remains stable, but there has been significant improvement. Doctors have not yet indicated when he might be discharged. Pope Francis did not meet any visitors during the day and spent his time in prayer, medical care, and other personal activities.”
The Holy See Press Office also released another message from Pope Francis for his well-wishers on its website. In it, the Pope conveyed greetings to all on the occasion of the Diocesan Jubilee Pilgrimage. The statement reads, “Your prayers have had an impact. Though I cannot be physically present among you, your prayers bring me joy. For this, I give you my blessing. Please, continue to pray for me.”
