CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The teaser of South superstar Prabhas’ upcoming film ‘Fauji’ has run into controversy over its portrayal of historical facts. Chandra Kumar Bose, great-grandson of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, has objected to the teaser and demanded that the makers withdraw it and release a revised version. He has alleged that history is being wrongly presented by linking fictional events with historical personalities.

The film’s new video was released on 23 October on the occasion of Prabhas’ birthday. Set against the backdrop of Berlin in 1942, it shows a conversation between Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and German dictator Adolf Hitler. In the scene, Netaji presents Prabhas’ fictional character as an Indian spy and soldier who plays an important role in the struggle against British rule.

The video also refers to a secret code inspired by the Bhagavad Gita. Questions are being raised over this fictional sequence, including whether real historical figures have been used to make the film’s hero appear more influential.

What did Chandra Kumar Bose say? Chandra Kumar Bose appealed on social media platform X to the film’s director Hanu Raghavapudi and the production team to withdraw the teaser. He wrote that presenting history and fiction together in this manner is wrong and historical facts should not be distorted. He also expressed hope that Prabhas would take note of the objection. Bose said Netaji had met Hitler with the objective of securing Germany’s support for India’s freedom struggle. According to him, it is not appropriate to link that historic meeting with praise for a fictional character.

Film release next year: ‘Fauji’ is being directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. Prabhas will be seen playing a fictional soldier and spy in the film. The film’s release is said to be scheduled for 19 March 2027. The teaser has also drawn mixed reactions on social media. Some viewers are questioning the portrayal of historical personalities, while others see it as part of a fictional story. So far, there has been no official announcement from the makers on changing or removing the teaser.
