CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna, brother of suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna who is accused of sexually exploiting several women, filed a police complaint, claiming that two men tried to extort money from him by threatening him with a false case of sexual assault.
According to media reports, the complaint has been filed against two men, Chethan K.S. and his brother-in-law, accusing them of demanding Rs 5 crore from the MLC.
Suraj Revanna is the son of Holenarasipura MLA H.D. Revanna and the elder brother of Prajwal Revanna who is in police custody for allegedly sexually assaulting several women.
News agency PTI reported that Chethan befriended Suraj Revanna’s aide Shivakumar, through whom the complaint was filed, and started working for ‘Suraj Revanna Brigade’.
Recently, Chethan demanded money to meet family expenses but when Shivakumar refused, the accused threatened to lodge a police complaint, accusing Suraj Revanna of sexually assaulting him. According to Shivakumar’s complaint, Chethan demanded Rs 5 crore and later it was reduced to Rs 2 crore.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under IPC sections 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (involvement of others in the conspiracy) against Chethan and his brother-in-law.
