CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the second day of the South-West Zone Inter-University Karate Championship 2024, organized under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities, Madhya Pradesh’s Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Vishvas Kailash Sarang, graced the event with his presence and motivated the athletes. The event also witnessed the participation of Dharmendra Gupta, Executive Director of LNCT University; N.K. Thapak, Vice-Chancellor; Pankaj Kumar Jain; Supriya Jatav, Tournament Director; and V.S. Panwar, Competition Secretary.

Highlights of the Day

The semi-final and final matches for Men’s Individual Kata, Team Kata, and Kumite -50kg categories were held today, with the following results:

Men’s Individual Kumite -50kg:

Gold: Prince Solanki (LNCT University)

Silver: Ashish Tiwari (Rani Durgavati University)

Bronze: Avinash K. (University of Calicut) and Prince Rathore (Rabindranath Tagore University).

Men’s Individual Kata:

Gold: Chirag Pawar (Sage University)

Silver: Dipankar Konwar (Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam)

Bronze: Rakshansh Amravanshi (Barkatullah University) and Jagrit Karnataka (MP).

Men’s Team Kata:

Gold: Mahatma Gandhi University

Silver: University of Calicut

Bronze: Mysore University (Karnataka) and Sukhadia University (Gujarat).

Medal Ceremony

The medal ceremony was attended by notable figures, including sports journalist Ramkrishna Yaduvanshi (Dainik Bhaskar), Yogendra Vyas (Sports Age), Dr. A.K. Singhai (Director, School of Pharmacy), Dr. Jitendra Sharma (Director, Hotel Management), and Dr. Satish Kumar (Sports Officer).

Upcoming Matches and Special Honoree

Semi-finals and finals for Men’s Individual Kumite in the -55kg, -60kg, and -67kg categories are scheduled for tomorrow morning.

Akanksha Solanki from Bhopal, who recently won two bronze medals at the Commonwealth Karate Championship in South Africa, was honored by LNCT University.

The event is being live-streamed by FGSN, and coaches, managers, and players from various universities were felicitated with T-shirts and mementos.
