CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the auspicious occasion of the birth centenary of renowned ABVP craftsman Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Bhopal City organized a special program, “Priya Kelkar,” at the Rajat Jayanti Auditorium, Pt. Khulelal Sharma Ayurvedic College, Bhopal. The event was attended by former ABVP workers, social activists, and other dignitaries.
During the program, a dramatic recitation of Yashwantrao Kelkar’s life story was presented on stage, giving attendees a deep understanding of his ideals, struggles, and dedication to social service. Suresh Gupta, former National Vice President of ABVP, shared his thoughts, stating that Prof. Kelkar had a complete understanding of every worker. He guided the student force to transform into national strength. Gupta also cited the 1967 convention, where the example of changing the use of the carriage in the Shobha Yatra was presented, which continues today with the National President and Ministers participating alongside everyone in the procession. He added that Kelkar did not follow a “red pencil” approach—rather than pointing out mistakes, one should understand the worker to foster growth and prevent repetition of errors.
Chetas Sukhadiya, Regional Organization Minister of ABVP, highlighted that Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar played a vital role in enhancing ABVP’s prestige. He was consistent in words and deeds. Sukhadiya emphasized that true patriotism lies in working beyond social divisions. Kelkar encouraged workers to visit each other’s homes to develop mutual understanding, which helped both the organization and its members to grow. He also shared that the Danton Panth Thengdi paid tribute to Prof. Kelkar, stating that the life of ABVP and the life of Yashwantrao Kelkar are one and the same.
