CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Priyansh Arya had a night to remember in IPL 2025, and so did cricket fans. On Tuesday, playing for Punjab Kings, the 24-year-old batter smashed 103 runs off just 42 balls. It was his debut IPL season, and he scored a century in style, making his innings go viral on social media. It was the kind of debut that felt straight out of a movie script.
Explosive Start from Ball One
Priyansh began his innings with a bang. On the very first ball of the match, he hit Khaleel Ahmed for a six over deep point and went on to score 16 runs in the first over. From the start, he maintained an aggressive approach and stayed composed even as wickets fell. His 103-run innings included 7 fours and 9 sixes.
Coach Calls Him a “Special Player”
After the match, Punjab Kings’ assistant coach Brad Haddin showered praise on Priyansh. He said, “We knew from the first practice game that this boy was special. Even when he got out to a brilliant ball from Jofra Archer, he acknowledged it with grace. But today, he showed how quickly he learns and what a powerful player he is.”
Who is Priyansh Arya?
Priyansh Arya came into the limelight in 2024 during the Delhi Premier League, when he hit six consecutive sixes in a single over. Playing for South Delhi Superstars, he scored 120 runs with 10 fours and 10 sixes, helping his team post a massive 308/5 total.
From Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to IPL Stardom
In the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Priyansh was Delhi’s top run-scorer, making 222 runs in 7 innings, including a century against Uttar Pradesh at Wankhede Stadium, where he smashed 10 sixes. Though he went unsold in the IPL 2024 auction, Punjab Kings bought him this year for ₹3.8 crore, and he has now proven that he is worth every rupee.
