CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress / ITDC News Bhopal: Mumbai Indians (MI) at last lived up to their reputation as five-time IPL champions with a commanding performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
After restricting SRH to 173/8, MI chased down the target in just 17.2 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 102 off 51 balls by Indian 360 degree batter Suryakumar Yadav.
This ton marks Suryakumar Yadav’s sixth T20 century and his second in the IPL.
With this defeat, SRH’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs have become uncertain as they missed an opportunity to move above CSK in the points table.
Although currently at the 4th spot, SRH’s game against LSG will be crucial, almost like a knockout match.
After losing Abdul Samad’s wicket, Pat Cummins was forced to send in the impact player Sanvir Singh, a move that proved beneficial for SRH. Sanvir’s contribution helped SRH go from 136-8 to 173-8 in their allotted 20 overs.
However, this decision came at a cost, as SRH had to sacrifice one bowler’s spot. Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav capitalized on this change and made the most of it during MI’s successful chase.
