Prof. (Dr.) Bhuvan Chandra Mahapatra has recently conducted 109 online teaching sessions, leading a global webinar series from India with great success. These programs were organized under Sambalpur University, Odisha, and the Government of India’s Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT). The webinars covered a wide range of topics including education, technological teaching methodologies, and open and distance learning (ODL).
Prof. Mahapatra is currently serving as the Director of ODL and Research at the Central University of Rajasthan. He earned his Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from Devi Ahilya University, Indore, in 1993, in collaboration with UNESCO, Paris—a field that was then relatively new in India’s higher education landscape.
His academic journey includes the publication of over 109 research papers, 36 books, participation in 246 academic programs, and the mentorship of 34 research scholars. He has also contributed key reference documents for the implementation of India’s New Education Policy 2020, which are now being used by academic institutions across the country.
Prof. Mahapatra’s work experience spans open and distance learning models, specialized teacher training programs, and ICT-based teaching techniques. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a vital role in developing e-content guidelines for the Government of India. Additionally, he is affiliated with numerous national and international educational institutions and organizations.
