CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Writing by hand is not merely a continuation of tradition; it is a medium of dialogue with the soul. The union of pen and paper preserves creativity, diversity, and originality. In an era where technological tools influence our thinking, it is important to safeguard our originality and sensitivity.

During the launch ceremony of the new issue of the handwritten magazine ‘Hastakshar’ organized by the Hindi Department at Hindu College, renowned critic and Chairperson of the Hindi Department, Delhi University, Prof. Sudha Singh said that the most authentic form of the writing tradition is one that reflects the confluence of a human’s soul, sensitivity, and thought. Today, when artificial intelligence is shaping our ideas, writing by hand is no less than an act of resistance; it keeps human creativity alive.

In her lecture on literature and journalism, Prof. Singh also highlighted the development of Hindi journalism, stating that journalism is not merely a medium for conveying information but serves as a bridge between society and authority. As long as sensitivity, honesty, and thoughtful reflection remain in journalism, it remains connected to literature.

Earlier, in the welcome address, Prof. Bimlendu Tirthankar, head of the department, said that Hastakshar is not just a magazine but a symbol of our creativity and sensitivity. Preserving it in handwritten form is akin to safeguarding our cultural heritage and linguistic diversity. Prof. Tirthankar presented a plant to Prof. Sudha Singh, while Dr. Neelam Singh honored her with a shawl.

Prof. Rachna Singh, founder-editor of Hastakshar, recounted the magazine’s two-decade journey, noting that it could be published only due to the enthusiasm and dedication of young students. Prof. Singh emphasized that the aim is not to oppose machines but to teach the new generation that machines cannot replace humans.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Dr. Pallav, the current editor of Hastakshar, commented on the importance of creativity, stating that humans rise above their limitations only through engagement with creativity, and the magazine represents this very spirit of creativity. He added that without creativity, a person becomes frustrated, leading to many obstacles in one’s personality.

During the event, members of the student editorial board of Hastakshar — Shalu, Sneha Shah, Pallav Pushp, and Aryan Prajapati — presented a copy of the magazine to Prof. Sudha Singh. The guest was introduced by Killa, and the coordination was handled by Amit Kumar Meena. An exhibition of all previously published issues of Hastakshar was also organized. A large number of students, researchers, and faculty members attended the event.
