CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A farewell-cum-honor ceremony for the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, K.G. Suresh, was organized in the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication.
On this occasion, all the department heads, teachers, officers, and employees of the university presented bouquets, garlands, and mementos to honor him. Members of the staff also shared their thoughts, praising Suresh’s remarkable four-year tenure. A documentary on Prof. Suresh’s tenure was also shown in the auditorium.
Addressing this emotional moment, Director Suresh said that he does not consider it a farewell but rather an interval. He expressed that he feels like the richest person in the world because of the immense affection he received from so many people at the university. He added that he would carry this love with him. Director Suresh made two personal announcements on this occasion. He gifted books worth INR 1.25 lakh to the Head of the Library Department, Aarti Sarang. Additionally, he announced that gold medals would be awarded to the most talented children of university employees for achieving the highest marks.
Referring to the initials ‘K.G.’ in his name, Director Suresh remarked that being a Vice-Chancellor is not just a position but an emotion. He mentioned that when he joined MCU, it was during the COVID-19 pandemic, and about a year and a half to two years were spent in dealing with it. He said that the actual time for productive work was just two years, but in those two years, they accomplished what would typically take ten years.
During this time, the university’s financial situation improved significantly. The university shifted to its new campus in Makhampuram, Bishankhedi. The Rewa campus also moved to its new building. For the first time, the university was ranked among the top ten. The National Education Policy was implemented. The Chitra Bharati National Film Festival was organized at Makhampuram, and the university also participated in the NAAC accreditation process. For all these achievements, Director Suresh praised the university’s faculty, officers, and staff. He expressed his happiness over the university’s shift to the Makhampuram campus, MCU.
