CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Prof. Radhavallabh Tripathi, chief guest at the inaugural session of the 21-day national workshop organised by the Centre for Natyashastra Studies and Research at the Bhopal campus of Central Sanskrit University, said Sanskrit plays highlight various aspects of society. Sanskrit theatre is known as an ideal for the world, he said, adding that he believes it can be a major initiative for resolving the crises visible on the global stage today.
Special guest Rita Verma said she was pleased to be at the Sanskrit University. She said the participants who have come to the workshop from various states of the country would become familiar with important aspects of Sanskrit theatre.

Delivering the Saraswat address, Prof. Ramkumar Sharma said the theatre tradition of Bharat Muni plays a guiding role not only for India but for the world. He said student actors would learn a great deal from the workshop. He added that this initiative, a confluence of the arts, would enhance the prestige of Central Sanskrit University.
Workshop trainer and guest Girishan V said the programme is an important step towards preserving and promoting the Natyashastra tradition. For this, he said, Bhopal campus director Prof. Hansdhar Jha deserves appreciation.

In his presidential address, Prof. Hansdhar Jha said that through Sanskrit theatre, the university would prepare theatre practitioners and actors equipped with new consciousness for the world. He extended congratulations and best wishes, expressing hope that the Centre for Natyashastra Studies and Research would continue to achieve excellence.

At the beginning of the workshop, Saraswati Puja was performed. This was followed by Vedic mantra recitation by Sanit Swami, Devendra Pathak and Harish Mishra. Dr. Hariprasad Paudiyal presented the Saraswati Vandana with the melodic accompaniment of flute music.
Prof. Sanandan Kumar Tripathi delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Sangeeta Gundecha, co-coordinator, presented the introduction to the workshop. Workshop coordinator Prof. Kripashankar Sharma proposed the vote of thanks, and Dr. Sanjay Dwivedi conducted the proceedings. University teachers, students and prominent citizens of the city were present on the occasion.
