CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A health awareness program was organized at Madhya Pradesh Bhoj (Open) University, Bhopal on the occasion of World Health Day. The program commenced with Saraswati Vandana. Senior physician Dr. A. K. Chaudhary from LN Medical College and J.K. Hospital attended as the chief guest. He was welcomed by the Acting Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of the university with a shawl and coconut as a mark of सम्मान.
This year, the program was organized in line with the World Health Organization’s theme: “Unite for Health and Stand with Science.”
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Dr. A. K. Chaudhary quoted Saint Kabir’s couplet:
“Guru Govind dou khade, kake laagun paay,
Balihari guru aapne, Govind diyo batay,”
and emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation and harmony. He encouraged everyone to maintain a spirit of collaboration and to stay connected with nature through regular exercise, which helps keep the body healthy and prevents diseases.
Dr. Chaudhary mentioned that World Health Day has been celebrated since April 7, 1950. He advised reducing screen time and cited the example of COVID-19, noting that during the pandemic, human sensitivity declined and people even hesitated to meet their own relatives. He stressed that unless patients trust doctors, medicines cannot have their full effect. He also pointed out that although Indians are often underestimated globally, they continue to prove their capabilities abroad.
Presiding over the program, Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ratan Suryavanshi stated that every day should be treated as Health Day, and everyone must take care of their health. He emphasized that diseases do not come with prior warning, so people must always remain alert and aware. He advised adopting a balanced lifestyle, quoting, “Eat food like water and drink water like food.” He stressed the importance of natural resources, seasonal fruits, and a balanced diet. Referring to the principle “Prevention is better than cure,” he encouraged health awareness. Quoting “Sarve Santu Niramaya,” he highlighted the need to understand traditional practices like fasting from a scientific perspective. He concluded with the message, “Stay healthy, stay happy.”
Program coordinator and Registrar Dr. Sushil Manderia called upon everyone to work in line with the WHO theme. He appreciated the contribution of doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic and their service to humanity. He said that doctors always strive to save patients’ lives and should be respected. He advised not to ignore any illness and to seek treatment from qualified doctors, while also emphasizing natural and home remedies.
The program was attended by Assistant Registrar Nitin Sangle, Dr. Pragya Shukla (Director IT), Dr. Narendra Tripathi (Director Academics), Dr. Pragya Ojha (Director CICA), Dr. Shuchi Mishra, Dr. Sunita Pamnani, Dr. Sunil Gulati, Dr. Rajwati Deepankar, along with university officials and students. The event was hosted by Senior Advisor of CICA, Mrs. Nidhi Rawal Gautam.
