CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Death due to lack of treatment in road accidents will soon be a thing of the past. The government is establishing a nationwide network of government and Ayushman-affiliated hospitals to provide free, immediate treatment to road accident victims, with all costs covered by the government. An interdepartmental coordination meeting was held at the Office of the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Bhopal regarding the implementation of the Integrated Road Accident Database (IRAD).
The meeting was attended by CMHO Bhopal, Prabhakar Tiwari; District Health Officer Manoj Hurmade; National Informatics Center (NIC) representative Manoj Sharma; IRAD Director Gautam; Akshat Mandloi from Ayushman Bharat Niramayam; and other district-level officers. The discussion covered various aspects of the IRAD program implemented by the Government of India to minimize accidental deaths on national and state highways. Under this program, accident victims will receive free treatment up to a specified minimum amount set by the government, and the legal processes related to road accidents will also be simplified.
The meeting discussed tagging the nearest hospital for rapid treatment of accident victims, the smooth usage of the IRAD app, data entry, hospital registrations, and related aspects. CMHO Prabhakar Tiwari emphasized the priority tagging of Ayushman Bharat Niramayam registered hospitals, ensuring accident victims could access up to an additional ₹5 lakh in cashless treatment beyond the minimum coverage.
The government has now transformed the Integrated Road Accident Database (IRAD) into the eDAR (e-Detailed Accident Report) system. CMHO Prabhakar Tiwari reviewed its swift implementation, joined by departmental nodal officers Manoj Hurmade, Premendra Sharma, NIC representative Manoj Sharma, eDAR representative Gautam De, and Akshat Mandloi and Manu Sharma from Ayushman Bharat Niramayam. NIC representatives reported that all government hospitals in Bhopal and 145 Ayushman-affiliated hospitals have been registered, with others in progress. Representatives from Ayushman Bharat Niramayam shared that TMS-2 testing is advancing swiftly and will be available for use soon.
Dr. Tiwari instructed departmental officers Shilpa Yadav and Chhaya Dangi to complete the remaining tasks promptly. NIC representatives proposed piloting the program in Bhopal, which was immediately approved by the CMHO. Bhopal has consistently led the way in implementing welfare schemes from the Government of India and the Government of Madhya Pradesh, and it is expected to set an example in implementing this program as well.
