Lucknow. A major update has emerged for thousands of teachers working in Uttar Pradesh’s Basic Education Department. Preparations have begun for the promotion of nearly 70,000 council teachers. These teachers have been waiting for promotion since 2016. The Basic Education Council has directed basic education officers in all districts to prepare seniority lists.
There are around 3.30 lakh council teachers in the state, of whom nearly 70,000 are expected to get the benefit of promotion. Assistant teachers in primary schools may be promoted to the post of head teacher or assistant teacher in upper primary schools. At the same time, head teachers of primary schools and assistant teachers of upper primary schools will get an opportunity for promotion to the post of head teacher in upper primary schools.
The council has given about three weeks to prepare the seniority lists. Instructions have been issued to send the lists of teachers to the council office by October 23. After this, preparations are being made to begin the promotion process from November.
The seniority list will play an important role in the promotion process. After the list is prepared, teachers are also expected to be given an opportunity to file objections. The final list will then be prepared and the promotion process will be taken forward. The process is being seen as significant for teachers who have been waiting for promotion for a long time.
