CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav addressed a programme organised in Jabalpur on the 463rd sacrifice day of Veerangana Rani Durgavati. The programme was held at Veerangana Rani Durgavati’s memorial site at Narrai Nala. At the start of the programme, Dr Yadav offered floral tributes at the memorial of Veerangana Maharani Rani Durgavati in village Narrai Nala and paid homage to her. He also offered floral tributes at the statue of Shaheed Veer Narayan. He also performed worship of Bada Dev, the revered deity of the Gond community. Dr Yadav also viewed the exhibition organised at the venue.

At the programme, CM Dr Yadav said Rani Durgavati was an embodiment of indomitable courage, unmatched valour and bravery. He said the valour of women’s power is reflected in the personality of Maa Durgavati. He said today marks the 463rd sacrifice day of Veerangana Rani Durgavati, who defeated the Mughals in battles. Rani Durgavati ruled 52 forts in the Gondwana empire. After the untimely death of her husband, she placed her five-year-old son on the throne and dedicated herself for 15 years to serving the people and protecting the region.

A matter of honour and respect for the state

Dr Yadav said Rani Durgavati was born on the soil of Madhya Pradesh nearly 500 years ago, but today the entire country and the state remember her with respect. He said it was the state’s good fortune that after the formation of the state government, the first meeting of the Council of Ministers was held in Jabalpur and dedicated to Rani Durgavati. The second cabinet meeting was then held at Sangrampur, the capital of Rani Durgavati’s Gondwana empire. He said a proposal would be sent to the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to name Jabalpur airport after Veerangana Rani Durgavati.

New institution to be dedicated soon

Chief Minister Dr Yadav said a new institution dedicated to Rani Durgavati is being developed near Madan Mahal in Jabalpur at a cost of Rs 100 crore and will be dedicated very soon. He said the institution would acquaint the future generations of the state with the glorious past and works of Rani Durgavati. A zoo and wildlife rescue centre named after Rani Durgavati is also being developed in Jabalpur. In addition, the 35th Battalion Mandla has been named after Rani Durgavati. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the “Virasat Se Vikas” campaign to present the valour and rich heritage of the country’s heroes in the correct form. Dr Yadav said Rani Durgavati’s reign was the golden era of the Gond empire. He said Rani Durgavati had undertaken important works for farmer welfare in that era, including seed collection, crop rotation and water conservation. As a result of her management, granaries were full.

Government taking concrete decisions for farmers’ welfare

Chief Minister Dr Yadav said the state government is committed to the welfare of farmers and is taking concrete decisions by dedicating the entire year to farmers. The compulsion for farmers to repay loans by March 31 at zero interest rate has now been removed. Farmers will be able to repay loans within one year from the date on which they take the loan. The state government will pay Rs 880 crore to financial institutions. The state government is continuously working for tourism, industries and infrastructure development. On land acquisition for government projects, the government will now give farmers four times the compensation. He said farmers producing kodo-kutki are benefiting from the Rani Durgavati Shree Anna Protsahan Yojana being implemented in the state. The Rs 1,500 being released every month to the state’s Ladli Bahnas has increased their self-reliance. Farmers are also receiving the benefit of the Pradhan Mantri Samman Nidhi. Inspired by the programmes run by Rani Durgavati for farmers’ welfare, the state government is also continuously working in the interest of cultivators. Our government has no shortage of funds for farmer welfare and welfare schemes.

Chief Minister Dr Yadav said Prime Minister Modi is continuously working for tribal welfare. For the first time in the country, a member of the tribal community, Droupadi Murmu, is adorning the office of President. The state government is working with the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Prayas. He said, “Our government does what it says.”
