CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: During Ganeshotsav in Pune, Maharashtra, a unique idol of Lord Ganesh has become a major attraction for people. On Pune’s Ferguson College Road, a 13-foot-high Ganpati Bappa idol has been prepared using 21,000 panipuris. A large number of devotees are arriving to see the unusual idol. According to reports, people from Mumbai and other places are also reaching Pune for darshan of this special Ganpati.
The idol has been installed outside Ganesh Bhel. It has been created by artist Prashant Salunkhe and his team. Thousands of hollow panipuri shells have been used to make the idol. A structure of paper and bamboo was prepared behind it, on which the panipuris were carefully fixed. The idol is said to be about 13 feet high and around 10 to 11 feet wide.
Several artisans worked hard to prepare this unique Ganpati. Special precautions are being taken to protect the idol from moisture and weather, and artisans have been deployed to monitor it. According to the organisers, leftover dough from preparing the panipuris has also been used.
A notable aspect is that after the festival, instead of immersing these panipuris in water, there is a plan to use them to prepare organic manure. For this reason, the idol is also being linked to an environment-friendly initiative.
