CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Punjab Kings have seen a major change in their coaching staff ahead of IPL 2027. Two key coaches, James Hopes and Brad Haddin, have resigned from their positions. Hopes was serving as the team’s fast-bowling coach, while Haddin was handling the responsibility of fielding coach. Both are said to be likely to join the Big Bash League next season.

The change in Punjab Kings’ coaching staff has come at a time when the franchise is preparing for IPL 2027. Head coach Ricky Ponting will now have an important role in selecting the new support staff. According to a report, the franchise is in talks with potential candidates and the new coaches are expected to be selected before the auction to be held in December.

Before the resignations of Hopes and Haddin, Sairaj Bahutule had also left Punjab Kings. Bahutule joined the Indian men’s cricket team as spin-bowling coach after IPL 2026. He had worked as Punjab Kings’ spin-bowling coach in the 2026 season.

Punjab Kings will now have to look for new coaches for three roles related to fast bowling, fielding and spin bowling. Head coach Ponting and the franchise management face the challenge of finalising the new support staff before the auction.
