CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal /  Raipur : The WAKO India National Kickboxing Championship 2025, held at Sardar Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium in Raipur, concluded with Punjab emerging as the overall champion. With 22 gold, 18 silver, and 26 bronze medals, Punjab topped the medal tally. Maharashtra followed closely with 21 gold, 16 silver, and 29 bronze medals, securing second place. Tamil Nadu claimed the third position with 12 gold, 14 silver, and 15 bronze medals.

Chhattisgarh, the host state, performed commendably with 8 gold medals, finishing sixth in the overall standings. A total of 1,200 participants and 300 coaches from 28 states competed in this national-level sporting event.

The championship concluded with a grand closing and award ceremony attended by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. He expressed gratitude to the WAKO India Federation for choosing Chhattisgarh as the host and extended a warm invitation to all players and delegates to explore the state’s cultural and natural beauty.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM highlighted the importance of kickboxing in instilling courage, strength, and determination in youth. MP Brijmohan Agrawal proposed introducing kickboxing training in all schools, especially to promote self-defense among girls.

Also present were Raipur Mayor Meenal Chowdhary, WAKO India President Santosh Agrawal, Chhattisgarh Kickboxing Association President Chhagan Mundra, State Minority Commission Chairman Amarjeet Chhabra, Observer Renu Parikh, and Murali Sharma. The Assam Rifles team was honored with the award for Most Disciplined Team.

The championship was a vibrant display of sportsmanship, discipline, and the rising popularity of combat sports in India.
