He has alleged that the footage shows Rajendra Shinde, husband of former Thane mayor Meenakshi Shinde, in the company of individuals accused in the case.
Addressing a press conference in Thane on Monday, October 26, Ram claimed that the video showed Rajendra Shinde alongside people allegedly involved in his father’s killing. He questioned why Meenakshi Shinde and her husband had not been arrested despite the passage of 26 days since the murder. The allegations have not been established in court, and the footage requires verification.
Pradeep Purnekar, a local functionary of Shiv Sena (UBT), was killed on September 29 inside his office in the Manpada area of Thane. According to reports, attackers shot him and assaulted him with sharp weapons. Police have arrested five people in connection with the case.
Ram has alleged that the investigation has not progressed sufficiently and called for action against those he suspects of being connected to the crime. He has also expressed concern about possible political pressure on investigators and demanded justice for his family.
Rajendra Shinde has been questioned repeatedly by the police, including in connection with the video footage. Investigators have examined the material submitted by the family, and reports indicate that the videos have also been presented before a court.
