CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Putin’s Aurus Limousine Catches Fire Near FSB Headquarters After Moscow Blast

A fire broke out in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s armored Aurus Senat limousine following an explosion near the Federal Security Service (FSB) headquarters in Moscow. The £275,000 vehicle was engulfed in flames, and bystanders attempted to extinguish the fire before emergency services arrived.

According to a report aired on British news channel GBN on March 29, the fire is believed to have originated in the engine compartment and quickly spread to the interior of the vehicle. As smoke filled the street, nearby restaurant staff rushed to help. A video circulating online shows the rear end of the car severely damaged. The exact cause of the explosion remains unknown. It is reported that the vehicle belongs to the Presidential Property Management Department of the Kremlin.

Notably, the Aurus limousine was specially designed for President Putin. It was developed by Russian company NAMI in collaboration with the Central Scientific Research Automobile and Automotive Engine Institute. The car measures 6.7 meters in length, weighs 2,700 kilograms, and is completely bulletproof. It is built to withstand bomb blasts, whether thrown at it or detonated underneath.

The vehicle is equipped with a self-contained oxygen supply system, run-flat tires, and an internal secure line communication system that allows the President to communicate from anywhere in the world. Additionally, the limousine is armed with various lethal defense features, effectively turning it into a mobile bunker.
